Blind Spots

I recently read a post on http://www.bealivingsacrifice.blogspot/ regarding blind spots in our lives.  I believe that we should pray, and ask God to reveal any blind spots in our lives to us.  He in his mercy will reveal these things to us.

I have also been praying, and asking God to reveal any blind spots in my life.  Of course he has done exactly that.  I am so glad that God loves us, and wants us to be the best that we can be.  My issue was with my tithing committment.  I am not going to say that if you don't tithe you are going to hell.  That is not my place, but I do know how God is dealing with me on this issue.

I do not have a problem with giving.  Atleast, I didn't think I did, however only giving on my terms isn't what God wanted for me.  When I give God my first fruits, I am showing God that I love him, and I am trusting him to take care of me.  By not giving, or only giving what I feel I can "afford" is not giving God the credit he so deserves.  It also shows a lack of FAITH on my part.

If God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Luke 12:28

When we seek to please God more than ourselves, God will bless you.  I should know this by now, so it  really makes me angry that I have to learn this principles over and over.

In all things that we do we must it heartily unto the Lord.  Not begrudging!!!  God is worth is due!!!

CUT YOURSELF SOME SLACK

Yesterday, I posted on facebook that sometimes I have a harder time dealing with myself than with others.  I was trying to be a little humorous at the time, however there was definitely a lot of truth in that statement.

Sometimes it is easy to look at what we want to change, and forget about the how good we already are.  God made us in HIS image.  He sent HIS SON so he can understand our humanity.  No we are not perfect as Christ is, but HE made a way for us to be as much like him as humanly possible.

So I have decided to cut myself some slack, and be thankful that it doesn't take the perfection of this world to be pleasing to God, and realize HE is who would should be trying to please.  If we please HIM we are doing great.

There is a poem, I know that we have probably all heard, however it came on my mind while I was writing this post.  It is the The Serenity Prayer.

                                            GOD, grant me the
                                                   Serenity
                                            to accept the things
                                              I cannot change
                                                   Courage
                                                 to change the
                                                   things I can
                                                      and the
                                                    Wisdom
                                             to know the difference.

Welcome 2012

The year of the Lord two thousand eleven is just about to be over and we will be granted, if it be  the Lord's will another year.  I have pondered all week about the past year, and the impending new year.  Everyone feels like the new year is like a new start.  It is like a clean slate. Three hundred and sixty five days to try to do  something better than what we did with the  last three hundred sixty five days.

Many people will make "RESOULUTIONS", and create goals to meet that will most likely be "out the window" in about two to four weeks.  We try to change this or that by creating time lines, and high expectations that most of us will never be able to finish.  I think we set out with good intentions, but good intentions only get you so far.

Last year I didn't make any resolutions except to try to do my best each day.  If I screwed up, hopefully God would grant me another day to try again.  I had three hundred and sixty five days to do my best.  Did I succeed? Well, not everyday, but thankfully we have a merciful God who forgives us of our shortcomings, and I am blessed to have family and friends who will do the same.

God never promises us a tomorrow.  We have one day, TODAY. Matthew 6:34 the bible states:  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shatll take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  We do not know what tomorrow holds, but we know if we awake in the morning that we have today.

So, for the days that I am given, I am going to do my best to do what God wants me to do.

  1. Serve God first by making God my first priority.  Am I pleasing God by my actions?
  2. Seek His Righteousness.  Ask God if what I do is okay with him?
  3. Faith and Stewardship.  Procrastination is  the weapon of Satan.  Follow through and be reliable in all things.  Do what I say I will do; don't just say things to please people.  If I can't do something don't stress myself out by making plans I can not keep for fear of hurting someone.
  4. Perserverance.  It takes patience to see results.
Yes, I have the same ambitions as most people.  Lose weight.  Pay off debts.  Save money.  Be more committed ect..  However, by pleasing God first will allow me to place these goals in the order that is important to God.

No matter what your goals our for the New Year; I pray God blesses each and everyone.

One woman's junk is another woman's treasure.

The idea of using old "things" to decorate my home did not come from the pleasure of inheriting antiques, or being a collector.   It came from desperation.  I did not have anything, but what other's gave me, and I would shop yard sales to find things I needed.

Now, what was once "junk"   has became an obsession.  I like yard sales, thrift stores, estate sales, craft malls, and antique stores. Of course I am always looking for a bargain, however it isn't the necessity as it once was. But I rather find some vintage bowl than purchase a new set at the store.

This is why I have named this blog "Divine Desperation."  What was once done from desperation turned out divinely.  You may not have a knack for the rusty, chippy, or old.  That is great for you, but if you hopefully you can appreciate what I am saying.

I tried this blog thing a few months ago, but I didn't know what direction to take.  I think I have an idea what I want.  I hope you will follow along.  I hope to be an actual domain, have photographs, and link up to some of my  favorite blogs.

I hope to make this more than a passing fancy.  First and foremost I hope to be a light to others for God.  I am so encouraged by all the bloggers that expound on their faith.  You hear so many negative things about the internet, it is nice to know that there is a lot good on here as well.

Blessings to all.
